Ayaesha stared at her reflection - sad green with gold eyes stared back at her. They were gone - her parents. She stood and walked out of her dorm and into the common room. Sitting down in front of the fire she shivered - the dungeons had always been cold, especially during Christmas time, but it wasn't just because of that... it was the feelings that were biting at her...

Gabriel stood quietly, leaning against one of the algid walls of the common room. He was tall for his age - a conclusion that he had just come to when a girl from his year walked past (bearly reaching his chin). He strained his mind trying to remember her name - It started with an 'A', but that's all he could remember as he rubbed his head, further messing up his unruly blood-red hair. It had been this colour since an accident in Transfiguration the previous month, but he had become quite attached to his new-found style and decided it was quite an improvement. He opened his mouth to speak to the seemingly-lonely girl, but no words came out...

Cursing the founders of Hogwarts she cast a warming charm on herself - finally able to stop shivering so much. Staring into the fire she could remember the day she had gotten the letter informing her of her parents' deaths.
She had been doing the same thing that morning... it had been a Sunday, meaning no classes and subconsciously she had thought it a good thing when the screech of a familiar owl had filled the commons.
She looked away from the fire and at the carpet instead. The words of the letter fresh in her mind...
Dear Ms. A. Werring, We give you our deepest condolences due to the deaths of Mrs. R. Werring and Mr. N. Werring. The funeral date is yet to be decided and temporarily your guardian will be a Ms. K. Maura. Our condolences, The Ministry of Magic Death Patrol Officials
(OOC: Who I just made up. As you can see, lol.)

Nearly tearing the hair from his head in frustration, Gabriel searched his brain for the name of the girl. She was sitting, staring vacantly at the ground, and he knew that something was clearly troubling her. It was very strange for someone in Slytherin to care so much about others' feelings, but Gabriel did always consider himself unique. He stepped foward towards the girl (who was facing the opposite direction), and with a distracting sensation in the pit of his his stomach, he began to speak. "What's the matter..." his voice was soft and caring, and as he placed his hand on her left shoulder her head span around quickly, and the moment he made contact with her green and gold eyes his memory came rushing back to him. "Ayaesha... What's wrong?"

"Huh? Oh, nothing. Just thinking of my parents." A mirthful half-smile appeared on her face. How ironic that ny other time she wouldn't of.
No - her mind would have been full of potions, potions and more potions. Her favourite subject and her chosen career path. Though there was also the fact that Professor Snape torments the Gryffindors during the class made it all the more amusing... nah, couldn't have been.

(OOC: Hope you both don't mind. ) Stepping into the commons Rhea yawned. She missed Deidre; she never could sleep without her. She dawdled to a couch in the corner and picked up the hard-cover book next to it before starting to write.

(OOC: I was about to add FP to my to-kill-list, but then I noticed you were already on it ^^Y ... Anyhow, more RPing sounds like a good idea)
Gabriel had no idea why thinking of her parents would be enough to upset her... But, he had no idea about a lot of things. In fact, for one of his intelligence, he was rather clueless on a lot of matters. Noticing the population of the common room slowly increasing, he decided that perhaps sitting next to the lonely-looking Ayaesha wasn't the best course of action - the temptation to was overwhelming, but the last thing he needed were more insults and practical jokes thrown his way by the egotistical jerks that made up his house. "...Oh, okay" he stuttered, breaking the awkward silence that had lasted for close on ten seconds "well, I guess I'll see you in class...". With that, he turned and headed (rather quickly) back towards his dorm, not waiting for a reply.

"Uh..." Ayaesha sighed and stared back into the fire. Why would anyone want to be around her when she was like this anyway?
Hearing her owl she looked up. A letter? But fron who?
Ayaesha, I heard I was to be your temporary guardian. Oh gee, such fun.
Here Ayaesha frowned, if they didn't want her she would be fine with it, but...
I've already got my hands full with my younger brother. I don't need to look after anyone else. If you're as mature as your parents said you were you can look after yourself just fine. -Karen
"How nice." Ayaesha muttered to herself.

Gabriel didnt dare to slow his frenzied pace until he was safely within his dorm. He made sure that it was empty of annoying little Slytherins before leaping onto his bed (which groaned under that unwanted pressure). He opened the chest at the end of his bed, and snatched his timetable from its messy interior to check his next class - Potions. Well, there was a bad and a good side to everything. The bad side was he didn't like Professor Snape that much (he was sure he was the only Slytherin who DIDN'T), and the good side... Well... He wasn't quite ready to admit it to himself...

Standing - Ayaesha stretched before walking up to her dorm. Without even looking at her time-table she slipped it in her pocket.
Picking up her potions text and homework she walked back down into the commons and finding a nice place to sit she read through her homework - not wanting to get marked down for stupid mistakes.
